NTU will host a joint reception with the National University of Singapore at the World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting next January, said NTU president Subra Suresh this morning in his inaugural State of the University Address to school faculty and students.
The WEF’s annual meeting, held in Davos, Switzerland, is an invite-only summit that brings together thousands of political and business leaders to discuss global economic and social issues.
“(NTU) will exercise a leadership role in articulating our journey, our progress, and our accomplishments, not just from our own perspective, but within the broader context of Singapore and Asia,” said Professor Suresh.
“We are talking to leaderships of agencies and government organisations in Singapore, and a minister-level delegation that will be coming to Davos.”
A NTU spokesperson said that plans for the reception are still in its “primordial stages”, but declined to comment further.
The announcement comes a few months after Professor Suresh’s induction into the WEF’s Global University Leaders Forum in July, a community comprising of 28 presidents of the world’s top universities that discusses innovation, higher education and research.
